Laura Burlton

Laura Burlton is a freelance photographer (events, weddings, etc.) with some very captivating personal projects she’s working on. The work here falls into two categories.

The first set of images is from the “Chalk Dreams” series. They were captured using a Holga and then modified to the artist’s content and then produced as c-type prints. Burton uses her daughter, costume pieces and chalk to create narrative vignettes with some overlying creepiness. It’s a combination that (I think) just ‘works’! The first two, “Granny Wolf” and “Rabbit On The Brain” are in the collection of Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. These pieces come in two editions; one has an image size of 8″ x 8″ and is limited to 25 prints and the other is 12″ x 12″ and is limited to 15 pieces.

The second set of work is photo transfers on handmade paper which are then coated with encaustic wax. Holding these pieces is a very satisfying bonus to these also-creepy images. They are unique pieces and therefore not numbered.
