Glassell Studio School: Student Art Sale

This is the annual, single-best opportunity to buy art in Houston. A true Collectors’ Extravaganza! This is a BIG statement, I know. And I’m serious. This is due to two factors 1) “students” at Glassell are serious art practitioners and 2) the Glassell is quite insulated from the gallery/studio scene in Houston.

The work available, if you’re willing to dig through it, is sometimes “safe”, sometimes intriguing and nothing’s over $1000 (except for the $1400 piece I saw). Coffee mugs start at $10, a set of 8 drinking glasses we $40, works on paper start at $40 and 12″x12″ canvas pieces were starting at $50.

Tonight was the “preview”, i.e. pay $20 to get in, time. Tomorrow and Saturday it’s free. I’m not going to drop names here but trust me, there’re some established artists that use this sale to clear out inventory and if you know what you’ re looking for, you’ll be rewarded. I brought a group of collectors and everyone left extremely happy.
