Aurora Studios: Bridget Becker
Aurora Studios is a relatively new studio space where artists rent space in which to make their work. Recently, they started having regular, monthly open studio events on the third Saturday of the month. There are over 20 artists and I think all mediums are represented. I recommend you check them out for yourself but wanted to bring one artist from there to your attention.
Bridget Becker has been painting for just the last four years. After a workshop with Cody Hooper, Becker had the gumption to share her work with the world. My followers know of my general leaning towards narrative artworks so Becker is somewhat of an outlier for me. Although the work lacks narrative, I find value in the use of color and loose, experimental compositions. You can view her artist statement here.
I consider this a buy opportunity because the aesthetic is widely accessible (has wide appeal) and the prices allow an emerging collector to be a little experimental in growing their collection with a low chance of “buyer’s regret” down the road.
You can visit Becker during one of Aurora Studios’ open studio events the third Saturday of every month from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. They are located at 129 Aurora Street, Houston 77008.
