Silver Street Studios: Manika Srivastav
Manila Srivastav (Indian-Born) is, in general a figurative painter but with a penchant to aggressively incorporate abstraction. The resulting works are intended to present a figure (or more) in a way that some narrative component is supplied. In my opinion, not all pieces speak to me; I don’t always understand how the abstract component is supposed to inform the figure. Therefore, Srivastav has to lead my eye around the composition using line, shape, color and form.
