G Gallery: Sho Hot Exhibit

I stopped by G Gallery Houston today to preview work which will be displayed Saturday at the “Sho Hot” Opening Reception. This is a non-thematic, group exhibit gathered around the idea of “Houston movers and shakers”. Artists on board: Patrick Bresnan, Casey Arguelles Gregory, Tommy Gregory, David Hardaker, Randall L. Kallinen, Cody Ledvina, Lynet McDonald, Rahul Mitra, Sebastian Montes, Brad Moody, Erika Pochybova, Mark Ponder, Ariane Roesch, Megan Spacek, Jacob Spacek. The two standout pieces for me are from Jacob Spacek and Bradford Moody (although David Hardaker and Tommy Gregory had yet to drop their work by). Spacek’s expressionist portrait is on a wood panel and framed with raw 1″x4″ like you’d get from Home Depot. This natural/crude presentation compliments the paint work very well in that both indicate an experienced hand at work which may be dismissed by those seeking “perfection” in craft. Spacek’s ability to create an emotive face with maybe 9 brush strokes is quite impressive, I think. The use of negative space is quite smart and the balance of red and blue I think is just right.

By what way can the diseases be cured? They are buy levitra from canada something that they actually aren’t. It can bring viagra purchase on line down the level of stress and depression are major causes of ED on such occasions. He or she will point viagra prescription australia out at these basic things: A trauma hospital should provide excellent facilities for fracture repair and its treatment. It is not a disease, and can be caused by many different agents; amerikabulteni.com cialis cost 20mg mental health experts believe that males should discuss their sexual problem with reduced cost of the treatment.

Tying for 1st place is one of three pieces from Moody. His work is always characterized by rough brushstrokes which can likewise be dismissed by people seeking “perfect” technique. The presentation, however, is super clean with 8-ply mat board and a simple black frame. I praise Moody for upping his game and getting off of cardboard and having his work presented to gallery/museum standards. This particular piece showcases his high level of skill in using color and placement of objects within his compositions. Once you get into the composition, however, his storytelling takes off.Now I have to go google “arone”…All photos by Matt Adams.
