Visual Arts Alliance: 6th Juried Invitational Exhibit

The Visual Arts Alliance, of which I am the president, produces 4 juried exhibits per year. The basic model of the juried exhibit goes back hundreds of years and provides artists opportunities to gain some sort of validation for their work. Juried exhibits are PRIME purchasing opportunities since the work has already been vetted by an art professional, AKA the “juror” and VAA exhibits require ZERO commission on sales; this is unique in the Houston art scene.

VAA has produced over 60 such exhibits since it’s formation in the early 1980’s. Nicole Longnecker was hired for this particular exhibit. 180 artworks were submitted and 60 were selected.

Juror Statement:

I want to thank the Visual Arts Alliance for choosing me as juror for the exhibition. It was a daunting task to see so many wonderful pieces of art only to realize I could only select a small set to include in this show. The process reminded me of how much artistic talent we have in the Houston area. Houston is a vibrant, creative community and we are lucky to have groups like the Visual Arts Alliance to showcase artists in our community. I hope you all enjoy my selections and appreciate the hard work of Matt Adams and his group of volunteers for hanging the exhibit. I had a wonderful time, and hope you enjoy the show!
