G Gallery: Morgan Sorne – Songs from the House of Stone

Avant Garde\Bohemian\Morgan Sorne has the soul/mind/spirit of an artist.

The stories Sorne tells are not limited to visual expressions (in 2-D and 3-D works). They extend to other artistic media including musical compositions, poetry, performance and video. This is a rare talent that we need to thank G Gallery owner Wayne Gilbert for bringing to Houston. It’s very helpful to know this before experiencing this exhibit because it’s rather overwhelming otherwise.

Sorne, who’s Wikipedia entry is quite helpful, creates visual artworks HEAVY in narrative content – so you *know* I love them! The individual works vary greatly in materials and processes which means there’s likely something you really like as well as something you don’t. For me, it’s an exciting presentation of strong work from a well-developed but-still-developing artist that stands apart from SO many other artists.

I think the work is purchase-worthy because Sorne’s work really is stand-apart in execution and thoughtfulness and will add great depth to a collection.

This exhibit is on view until October 26 at G Gallery (301 East 11th St., 77008, 12:00-5:00 Wed-Sun)

  1. Do you have a catalog with prices for this exhibit? I can not get to Texas at this time, but am interested in collecting Morgan’s work.

    • I encourage you to contact the gallery or the artist for more information. I’m not an artist representative; just a new fan of Sorne’s work!
